Buying with Spotlight
Spotlight Auctions is exclusively an online auction service and we want to make viewing, buying and collecting as straightforward for the buyer as possible.
Viewing
At Spotlight we pride ourselves in producing comprehensive photographs of every lot in order for the buyer to assess each one thoroughly and establish the condition. Fully illustrated catalogues for all sales are published on this website.
Should additional photographic condition be required this can be requested via email at info@spotlightauctions.com, we will try and cater for each request.
Virtual viewing is also available on selected days only which will be publicised prior to each live auction. Virtual viewing must be pre-arranged in advance and will take place via the zoom platform. These can be arranged by contacting info@spotlightauctions.com
Bidding
Online auctions will operate through this site, an online service in which you can follow the auction live from the comfort of your own home – or if you prefer leave bids in advance of the sale.
Prospective bidders must register in advance in order to place bids on lots.
Commission bids
After registering through this website you can leave commission bids with us up to a maximum figure and we will undertake to buy on your behalf as cheaply as we are able, after reference to any reserve or other bidders. Please note that bids can be left online up to 30 minutes before the start of the sale.
Live Internet Bidding
Each Spotlight Auction features live audio and visual streaming online through this website and most bidders prefer to bid live during the auction itself. Registered bidders can easily bid via the push of a button on this site.
The auction may also be available to view via Third party bidding platform suppliers who will usually charge a small percentage to buyers using their platforms, full details are available on registration with the bidding platform.
Buyers Premiums
Spotlight Auctions charges an all-inclusive Buyer's Premium (20%+Vat of hammer price) on each lot that you purchase which includes internet charges.
VAT
The majority of lots sold via Spotlight auctions are exempt from VAT on the hammer price. If this is not the case then it will be detailed in the lot description.
VAT is charged on the Buyers premium in all cases.
Post Auction Process
We try to administer a quick and efficient service after each auction, including in-house payment and shipping services. We are pleased to be able to offer buyers our in-house postage and packaging service for many items.
Following the sale, we will send out invoices to all successful bidders via email. We will wherever possible include on the invoice a charge for packing and shipping of the lots purchased. Packing is automatically undertaken in house and shipment is made by Courier or Royal Mail. Insurance cover on shipments is not provided within this charge.
Each P+P amount is calculated per invoice/bidder and is calculated dependant on weight and number of items. If your lot(s) can be packed and posted by our in-house packing service a P+P charge will be shown on your invoice.
Please note that items can only be posted to the address on your invoice. Please contact us for further details. P+P charges are subject to VAT. Lots must be paid for before they are shipped. You are under no obligation to use our P+P service therefore if you would rather collect in person or use one of our recommended third parties for delivery of your item(s) then P+P can obviously be removed from your invoice.
Collection of items is available after payment has been made by appointment only by contacting info@spotlightauctions.com
